We are delighted to confirm the appointment of The Revd Joe Simons, who will be joining the team in Hereford Diocese. He will be working part time as a member of the Mission and Ministry team, helping people to live out their faith through engaging in social action, and part time as an incumbent of the Brown Clee parishes. He will take up his role in July.
This appointment brings the Mission and Ministry team in the Diocese back to full capacity.
“I am looking forward to working with the team and across the Diocese to really understand and help resource our Christian response to the many areas of social need. My prayer is that we, as agents of Christ’s love, may bring transformation, hope and a practical response in living out our faith with those in greatest need.”
Joe is presently completing his curacy in the diocese working in the parish of Cleobury Mortimer.
Joe was ordained in the diocese in 2021 at Hereford Cathedral. Before ordination, Joe worked within the retail sector helping to drive growth in new stores.
He adds: “In working with a range of different people motivated by their desire to look after customers and be the best they can be, I have been struck at how a unity of purpose and a desire to bring something exciting has such clear parallels with what we are seeking to do in growing God’s Kingdom here in the Diocese. When we align ourselves to be the difference in people's lives in the name of Christ, I am excited about what can be achieved.”
Revd Dr Elizabeth Wild, Local Ministry Team Leader said: “I am delighted Joe is joining the team.
“He will be the new lead on society issues helping us to engage actively with communities across our diocese.”
