Caring for the Environment

"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it" (Psalm 24:1)

Our Environmental Strategy

God has generously given us a wonderful, beautiful world full of abundance and with enough resources for all. As Christians, we are called to steward the earth and to encourage others to do the same. To do this, we must tread more lightly on the earth and reduce our carbon footprint as well as enhance our ecology and increase biodiversity.

Ignoring environmental concerns is also a social injustice because those who suffer most from the effects of climate change are those with the least ability to pay inflating energy costs; and those who live in countries that are often placing the least impact on the environment, but which experience the worst extremes of climate events.

A major focus of our environmental work is on working with parishes to use environmental issues as a means of engaging with their local community and other local churches, potentially creating not just eco churches but ‘eco villages.’
