The next team member we meet in our two-minute interview is Sarah Basset.
Sarah has been our office administrator for 34 years. If you visit the diocesan office in Hereford, Sarah is one of the first people you meet at reception. She always greets you with her lovely smile and a warm welcome.
Sarah has two grown-up children, a daughter 26yrs old and a son 24 yrs old, and two grandsons, with a third grandson arriving soon.
Here is what she told us about herself:
I: Hello, Sarah. Thanks for taking part in the 2-min interview. Question one, what is your favourite food?
SB: My favourite food is difficult as most of my friends and colleagues know that I enjoy food and I am well known in the office to be the ‘human dustbin.’ I like all types of food, Italian, Indian, Chinese, and traditional roast dinners. There are only a few things I don’t like are sushi, pineapple, and coconut.
I: It seems you're in good company to try out new foods. So, question two, another easy one. What is your idea of a perfect day?
SB: My ideal would be to get up early and spend the day walking with family, either on the Devon coastal footpaths, Elan Valley, or on my own doorstep in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, with a picnic or a nice pub lunch on the way, followed by a relaxing evening with a spot of cooking, or pottering about in my garden until the sun goes down.
I: The last question. What do you enjoy about working at Hereford Diocese?
SB: Firstly, I must enjoy working for the Diocese. This will be my 34th year at the office! What I like is that every day is different, always lots of variety, and it’s lovely to work with such a good team of colleagues at the office. I also like to be as supportive as I can to parishes, and as I’ve been here for so long, you get to know quite well the lovely people in the parishes.
I: Thank you for being part of the 2min interview.
