The Rt Revd Richard Jackson is the 106th Bishop of Hereford and was licensed on 20 March 2020 at Hereford Cathedral three days before the UK entered a national lockdown.

The history of the Bishop's of Hereford dates back to Anglo Saxon times when the diocese of Hereford was formed in 676AD. The Bishops came under the authority of the Church of England from 1534 with a brief period under Roman Catholic rule. Herbert Westfailing was consecrated at the Bishop of Hereford in 1586.
