Revd Nicol Kinrade is appointed as Chaplain to The Bishop of Hereford

Revd Nicol Kinrade

Bishop Richard is delighted to confirm the appointment of The Revd Nicol Kinrade as his Chaplain.  She will be joining the team in autumn 2022 from the Diocese of Chichester.

“I am delighted to be working with Bishop Richard.  When he was Bishop of Lewes, he ordained me as a priest.  I look forward to supporting him in his ministry as he leads the people in Hereford and South Shropshire.”

“I feel deeply honoured to take up this new role as Bishop’s Chaplain and join the team in Hereford Diocese, working together to spread the Good News of Jesus.”

Nicol was ordained in the Diocese of Chichester in 2015.  Before ordination, she worked in the museum sector, based at the Tower of London and the American Museum of Natural History in New York.  She later took up a role in the Business Recovery Services department of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Nicol and her husband Paul moved to rural Sussex in 2004, and she began exploring her calling to ordination there.  She spent six years serving as a Magistrate before studying for ordination at Westcott House, Cambridge (2013-2015).  Her Curacy was in the Beacon Parish of Ditchling, Street and Westmeston.  Throughout her ministry, she has been involved in a variety of roles in Chichester Diocese, including serving as an assistant director of ordinands, as Liturgical Chaplain to the three Bishops, and as a trustee of the Diocesan Academy Trust (DCAT).  Nicol is presently Priest-in-charge, of All Saints, Highbrook and St Margaret’s West Hoathly.

The Rt Revd Richard Jackson, Bishop of Hereford, said: “I am looking forward to working with Nicol.  I am pleased she has agreed to follow Brian Chave as my Chaplain.  She has a wide experience of serving people across the whole spectrum of the Church of England and will be a welcome addition to the team.”

As The Bishop’s Chaplain, Nicol has responsibility for running the Bishop’s office, working alongside Ros Kirkwood and Gail James, and the wider team in the Diocesan Office.  It includes a wide variety of aspects including legal, liturgical, pastoral and spiritual support.
