Emily Hill was selected to represent the General Synod of The Church of England in the Presentation of Loyal Addresses by privileged bodies at Buckingham Palace at a special event held in early March. The Loyal Addresses are offered by a few select ‘privileged bodies’ at special moments in the life and reign of the Monarch.
General Synod is the national assembly of the Church of England. It considers and approves legislation affecting the whole of the Church of England, formulates new forms of worship, debates matters of national and international importance, and approves the annual budget for the work of the Church at the national level.
Emily, 22 years old and a trainee nurse, is the youngest member of The House of Laity and has a positive female voice in the church. She is one of the Hereford Diocese's lay representatives and the youngest member to be elected to the General Synod.
“As part of my role on General Synod, I was asked to be a representative that gave a Loyal Address to HM The King. It was an incredible experience and very surreal. One of my highlights was walking through the front gates and into Buckingham Palace with many tourists staring and wondering who we were. Thank you to everyone who made it possible and made it the perfect day.” Says Emily Hill.
