Fit for Function Conference
Working together, the Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham and the Church of England Dioceses of Coventry, Gloucester, Hereford, Lichfield, and Worcester have created ‘Fit for Function’ – an annual conference for those involved in the care of churches across their regions, including PCC members and Churchwardens.
Now in its fifth year, our 2024 conference will focus on ‘quick wins’ for working towards NetZero, along with highlights of good practice. We want to provide a broad spectrum of topics to inspire action; from improving biodiversity, to gaining a recognised accreditation such as ‘Eco Church’, small alterations or repairs to fabric, and creating culture change. The idea is to think holistically about sustainability in cases where more significant interventions such as heat pumps and solar panels may be less practicable, and to see how churches can make further links with their local communities in pursuing NetZero.
With speakers from the National Heritage Lottery Fund, Caring for God’s Acre, Church of England’s Net Zero Programme, Ecclesiastical Insurance and others.
Date: 2nd October 2024
