Receipients of The Royal Maundy Purse

Published on: 9th April 2020

Every year, on Maundy Thursday, The Queen distributes special Maundy money to pensioners in a service which commemorates Jesus washing the feet of the Apostles at the Last Supper.

Despite the announccement that this year's Royal Maundy Service 2020 is not going ahead at St George's Chapel, Windsor, as planned, we are still delighted to share news that two recipients in our Diocese have received the Queen's Maundy Purse for their services to the Church:

The late Roger Lind for his services as a member of the PCC at St Peter's and St James, Hereford, as member of Deanery Synod, Diocesan Synod and Bishops Council as well as being a licensed Reader and serving as Day Chaplain at Hereford Cathedral amongst many other acts of service to the Church. His widow, Mrs Brenda Lind receives the gift on his behalf.

The other recipient is Mrs Helen Blyth, she is actively involved behind the scenes at St Laurence's Church, Ludlow and has had a long involvement in schools as a teacher of RE and in later years as a governor for schools in Oxford and Hereford dioceses, with a particular interest in RE.

Congratulations to them both on this wonderful recognition for their service
