COP 26 and The Climate Crises

Global action for Climate Justice

17-18 October - Organised by Faiths 4 Climate Justice, which Faith for the Climate is a part of.

Some churches in London, Manchester and West Yorkshire are already taking part on 17 October with public, religiously symbolic action.

Action is being planned by Christian Aid addressing power holders on 18 October.

For more information visit the Faiths 4 Climate Justice website

If you would like your Diocese to get involved, please contact Shanon Shah

Ring out for the Climate

Saturday 30 October, 6-6.30pm

Church bells have traditionally been used as warnings, and this time the danger to humanity couldn’t be greater – we are facing a Code Red for humanity.

Keep an eye on the Central Council for Church Bell Ringers website for more details

During COP

Interfaith Vigil

St George’s Square, Glasgow, of Sunday 31 October in the afternoon, to receive pilgrims, it is hoped that permission will be granted to read out the Glasgow Declaration and hear from other speakers.

Green Church Showcase.

Tuesday 2 November, 5-6pm, St George’s Tron and livestreamed.

This was a partnership with Church Times. The CofE and Church Times has been asking for churches to send in their stories of projects they’ve done to care for the environment and cut carbon.

They have shortlisted a few and will make videos to tell their story, and then have an evening to celebrate these stories.

Mass Mobilisation

Saturday 6 November

A mass mobilisation is being planned by the COP26 Coalition (a coalition of civil society organisations) to take place in Glasgow and London. There is likely to be a way for people of faith who want to join in with this to join together as part of a bloc group of faith organisations.

We will share more details when they become available.
