St Mary's, Stottesdon, in the Stottesdon Group of Churches

St Mary's is a surprisingly big church for quite a small village, and reflects the history of Stottesdon as being the centre of the Mediaeval Stottesdon Hundred. St Mary's is distinguished by its beautiful Hereford School carved stone font, and its pre-Norman tympanum above the west door from the tower to the main church. But there are many other very lovely features, and the church is poised for a major restoration project this year.

There are regular services all four Sundays in a month:

First Sunday in the Month: Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer (traditional language) at 6:30 pm during British summer time, reverting to 4:30 pm when the clocks go back to GMT

Second and Fourth Sundays in the Month: Holy Communion (Common Worship) with hymns at 10:30 am

Third Sunday in the Month: Informal Worship - light on liturgy, half an hour long (sometimes!) - at 10:30 am

All services have hymns to sing.

When there is a fifth Sunday in the month, there is generally a Group service held in one of our churches.

Extra Service: on Sunday June 5th there is a Group Service of Songs of Praise at St Mary's, Stottesdon, to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.

Safeguarding: this church upholds the right of all to share in church activities in safety; see our Safeguarding notice on the menu to the left.
